Conference Components included:
Pre-Conference: Two in-depth, interactive sessions designed to provide participants with new skills through learning experiences such as exercises, activities, and discussions.
General Session: Four general sessions of keynote or panel presentations focusing on emerging health issues will be offered. Biographies of general session presenters can be found in the program.
Workshops & Presentations: 1 ½ hour workshops and 45 minute presentations will provide participants with new opportunities to explore innovative health programs, community and policy development strategies, and evaluation and research results and techniques. Descriptions can be found in the program.
Roundtable Discussions: These 30 minute small group discussions provide an opportunity to learn about new and innovative practices and to dialogue about specific health issues and programs. Three rotations of discussions will be held so that attendees can participate in more than one discussion. Details on the roundtables can be found in the program.
Share Fair Exhibit Reception: This exhibit and poster sessions showcases successful projects, programs, research and evaluation results. A dinner reception accompanies the exhibits for an evening of networking and sharing. This year we will be hosting a farewell to Dr. Karen Konzelmann, retiring CSREES National Program Leader with everyone stopping by to thank her for her 30 years of service.
Early Bird Walk & Jog: Wednesday and Thursday morning join the group for at least a 2-mile walk or jog. Evelyn Markee and Janice Shelton, University of Arizona, and Gerald Doekson, Oklahoma State University, will lead those of you who are interested in a healthy and fun way to start your day.
Professional Development and Continuing Education
The 2003 Priester Health Conference has been approved for CHES Continuing Education Contract Hours (CECH), the American Association for Family and Consumer Sciences Professional Development Units (PDU), and Auburn University Outreach and Continuing Education Units (CEU). Registration for CECHs, PDUs and CEUs may be completed at the conference registration table.
